Drury Hotels Pet Policy

Every Drury hotel accepts pets, and the chain publishes one set of pet guidelines for all of them. You can bring up to two pets per room, with a combined weight of no more than 80 pounds, and Drury charges a daily pet fee, which its FAQ says starts at a minimum of USD 50 and varies by location. The hotel pages we checked accept dogs and cats. Drury is stricter than most chains on behavior: pets may never be left alone in the room, are kept out of all public areas, and guests are asked to use the stairs rather than the elevator when moving their pet.

This guide is based on Drury Hotels' own pet guidelines page, its FAQ and the pet policy shown on 16 individual Drury hotel pages, read in October 2026. Fees vary by hotel, so confirm the daily fee for the exact hotel when you book.

How much is the Drury pet fee?

Drury's FAQ says guests who bring a pet will pay a minimum daily fee of USD 50, which varies by location, and will be asked to sign the pet policy at check-in. The hotel pages we checked bear that out. Eleven of the 16 Drury hotels we sampled charge a daily fee of USD 50 per room plus tax, including Drury Inn and Suites Phoenix Happy Valley, Kansas City Overland Park, Baton Rouge, Cape Girardeau, Burlington and Pittsburgh Airport Settlers Ridge, and Drury Plaza hotels in Savannah Pooler, St. Louis at Union Station, Cleveland Downtown and Dallas Richardson.

The other five charged more, and by number of pets. Drury Inn and Suites Gainesville, Drury Inn and Suites St. Louis O'Fallon, Illinois and Drury Plaza Hotel Nashville Franklin charge USD 65 a day before tax for one pet and USD 75 for two. Drury Inn and Suites Birmingham Grandview charges USD 70 for one pet and USD 80 for two. Check the hotel page or call, because the fee is the part of Drury's policy that changes by location.

The 80 pound rule

Drury's limit is unusual: it is a combined weight, not a per-pet weight. The pet guidelines say the total combined weight of the pets is not to exceed 80 pounds. That means:

  • One dog of up to 80 pounds is fine.
  • Two dogs of 40 pounds each, or a 60 pound dog and a 20 pound dog, are fine.
  • Two 50 pound dogs, at 100 pounds combined, are over the limit.

Plenty of chains set a per-pet limit that would allow two 50 pound dogs. If you travel with two medium or large dogs, Drury's combined limit is the rule to check first.

Pets cannot be left alone

The rule that surprises most guests is that pets should not be left alone in your guest room at any time. Many hotels allow a crated pet to stay in the room while you go to dinner; Drury's guidelines do not. Plan for it: eat at places where your dog is welcome, use a drive-through, bring food back to the room, or arrange a local dog walker or daycare if you need to be out without your pet. It also means you cannot leave your dog in the room while you go to the hotel's evening 5:30 Kickback, and pets are not allowed in the dining area either.

Public areas and the stairs rule

Drury keeps pets out of all public gathering areas: the lobby, dining area, pool, fitness center and similar spaces. When you move your pet to and from your room, it must be on a leash or in a carrier, and Drury asks guests to use the stairwells as a courtesy to other guests. If you have a large dog and a room on a high floor, or a pet that struggles with stairs, ask for a low floor when you book.

Cleaning up, damage and noise

Drury provides waste bags at the front desk and can direct you to pet relief stations. Under the guidelines, you are responsible for the cost of repairs from damage caused by your pet and for lost revenue from noise complaints about your pet. In the event of a problem, Drury says you may be asked to leave the hotel without a refund. Taken with the rule against leaving pets alone, that makes Drury best suited to calm, quiet pets that are happy to go everywhere with you.

Do Drury hotels accept cats?

Yes. Every Drury hotel page we checked says dogs and cats are accepted. The same two pet, 80 pound combined limit and daily fee apply. Bring a litter box and keep your cat in a carrier when moving through the hotel.

Service animals and emotional support animals

Drury's guidelines say service animals are welcome throughout the hotel at no additional charge, and quote the ADA definition of a service animal as a dog or miniature horse individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. Drury also says, citing the federal ADA guidelines, that animals whose sole function is emotional support, comfort, therapy, companionship or crime deterrence are pets, not service animals, so the daily pet fee applies. That matches the Justice Department's ADA service animal guidance. Our guide to service dog hotel rights covers what staff can and cannot ask.

How to book a Drury stay with a pet

  1. Open the hotel's page on druryhotels.com and find the Pet Policy line for the daily fee.
  2. Check that your pets' combined weight is 80 pounds or less.
  3. Add your pet when you book or call the hotel, and ask for a low floor if stairs are a problem.
  4. Expect to sign the pet policy at check-in.
  5. Plan meals and outings so your pet is never left alone in the room.

Our guide on how to find pet-friendly hotels covers the same checks for other chains.

Questions to ask the hotel

  • What is your daily pet fee, and is it per room or per pet?
  • Can you give me a low-floor room near a stairwell and an exit?
  • Where is the nearest pet relief station?
  • Is there a dog walker or daycare nearby if I need to be out without my pet?
  • Do you need anything from me at check-in besides the signed pet policy?

Asking about local walkers or daycare is worth it at Drury in particular, because the rule against leaving pets alone means any evening out without your dog needs a plan.

A sample stay: five nights with two dogs

Say you are visiting family for five nights with a 50 pound dog and a 25 pound dog. Their combined weight is 75 pounds, so they fit Drury's 80 pound limit. At a Drury charging USD 50 per room per day, the pet fee is USD 250 plus tax. At Drury Plaza Hotel Nashville Franklin, which charges USD 75 a day for two pets, it would be USD 375 plus tax. Swap the 25 pound dog for a second 50 pound dog and the pair is at 100 pounds, over the limit at every Drury, however much you are willing to pay. Run those numbers before you book.

What to pack for a Drury stay with a pet

  • A leash and a carrier for moving through the hotel.
  • Food, bowls and a few days of extra food in case of delays.
  • Your pet's bed or blanket, and a litter box for a cat.
  • Waste bags, although the front desk can provide them.
  • A copy of your pet's vaccination record and your vet's phone number.
  • Something to keep your dog busy in the room while you are there, such as a chew or a puzzle toy.

The cost of a Drury stay with a pet

Because the fee is daily, longer stays add up. At the common USD 50 per room per day, one night costs USD 50, three nights USD 150 and a week USD 350, before tax. At a hotel charging USD 75 a day for two pets, a week is USD 525. That makes Drury one of the more expensive chains for pets on long stays, even though Drury hotels include a hot breakfast and the 5:30 Kickback for guests. For a one or two night stop, the clarity of a chain where every hotel takes pets can be worth it.

Drury for a road trip or move

Drury lists about 130 hotels on its website, many near major highways. Knowing that every Drury takes pets removes the guesswork on a long drive, which is a real advantage over chains where many hotels refuse pets. The no-pets-alone rule and the daily fee are the trade-offs. Our guides to a road trip with a dog and hotels with no pet fee help you plan stops and compare costs.

Tips for a smooth Drury stay

  • Weigh your pets before you go so you know you are under the 80 pound combined limit.
  • Pack a portable water bowl and a blanket for the room.
  • Plan takeout meals, since your pet cannot stay in the room alone or come into the dining area.
  • Ask for a room near a stairwell and an exit.
  • Keep your pet quiet; noise complaints can cost you the room.

Common mistakes with Drury pet stays

  • Bringing two dogs that are fine individually but over 80 pounds combined.
  • Leaving a crated dog in the room while you go out.
  • Taking your dog through the lobby or into the dining area.
  • Assuming the fee is USD 50 at every hotel. Some charge USD 65 to USD 80.
  • Bringing an emotional support animal and expecting the fee to be waived.

Is Drury right for your pet?

Drury suits some pets better than others. It works well for a calm dog or cat that is used to staying close to you, travels in a carrier or on a leash without fuss, and is happy to spend the evening in the room with you. It is less suited to a dog that barks when its owner steps away, two large dogs whose combined weight tops 80 pounds, or a trip where you need to leave your pet for a business dinner or a show. If your pet falls into the second group, a chain that allows crated pets to stay alone, or one with a per-pet weight limit, may be a better match. If it falls into the first, Drury's certainty that every hotel will take your pet is a real advantage when you are planning a long route.

How Drury compares with other chains

Drury's policy is one of the clearest of any chain: every hotel, same rules. Its daily fee is higher than most budget brands, and its combined weight limit and no-pets-alone rule are stricter. By contrast, our La Quinta pet policy guide shows a chain whose fee is capped at USD 75 per stay. For a short stop where you will be with your pet the whole time, Drury is easy; for long stays or pets that need to be left, another chain may suit you better.

Before you book

Drury makes the yes-or-no question easy, because every hotel accepts pets. The details that matter are the daily fee at your hotel, the 80 pound combined limit and the rule that pets are never left alone in the room. Check all three, and Drury can be a simple, predictable choice for travelling with a dog or cat.
