Wyndham Pet Policy: Days Inn, Super 8 and Other Brands Compared (2026)

Wyndham Pet Policy

Wyndham has no single pet policy for its hotels, apart from La Quinta. Every Days Inn, Super 8, Travelodge, Microtel, Baymont, Ramada, Wingate and Wyndham Garden hotel sets its own rules and shows them in a "Pet and Service Animal Policy" box on its page at wyndhamhotels.com. In the 35 US Wyndham hotels we checked across those brands, 19 accepted pets and 16 did not. The hotels that took pets mostly charged per pet, per night, from USD 10 to USD 40, usually allowed two pets, often set a weight limit between 25 and 80 pounds, and many added a one-off "pet sanitation fee" of USD 100 to USD 250 if the room needed extra cleaning.

This guide is built from the pet policy boxes on individual hotel pages at wyndhamhotels.com, read in October 2026, using an even sample of US hotels taken from Wyndham's own lists for each brand. Rules belong to each hotel and change, so check the page for the exact hotel you plan to book, or call it, before you travel.

The common Wyndham pattern

Across the Wyndham brands we sampled, hotels that accepted pets mostly followed the same shape:

  • A fee charged per pet, per night, not once per stay.
  • A maximum of two pets per room, occasionally three.
  • A weight limit at many hotels, commonly 25, 40 or 50 pounds.
  • A separate pet sanitation fee, often USD 150, charged only if the room needs extra cleaning.
  • Pets only in certain rooms at some hotels, and a request to call the hotel to complete a pet-friendly booking.

The wording is standard. A typical box reads: service animals welcome, pets allowed, two pets maximum, a weight limit, a nightly fee per pet, and a note to contact the hotel for details and availability. Days Inn King in North Carolina is a good example: up to two pets of 40 pounds for USD 20 per pet per night, with a USD 150 sanitation fee if applicable.

Many Wyndham hotels do not take pets

The surprise in our sample was how many hotels said no. Sixteen of the 35 hotels we checked used the same line: ADA-defined service animals are welcome, sorry, no other pets are allowed. They included Super 8 hotels in Ottawa, Illinois, Kansas City and Yucca Valley, Days Inn hotels near LAX and in Neenah, Wisconsin, Microtel hotels in Statesville, Carlisle and near Atlanta Airport, Ramada Sarasota Waterfront and Wingate hotels at Dallas Love Field and Columbia, South Carolina.

All four Wyndham Garden hotels we checked said no pets, including Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista near Walt Disney World, which refers guests to a nearby pet care kennel instead. A Wyndham sign on a highway exit is no promise your dog can stay, so check before you pull in.

Super 8 pet policy

Super 8 is one of the most searched Wyndham brands for pets, and its hotels vary widely. In our sample, Super 8 Flagstaff takes dogs only, for USD 25 per pet per night, in designated rooms, and asks you to call the hotel to complete a pet reservation. Super 8 Waverly in Iowa takes two pets up to 40 pounds for USD 25 per pet per night, says pets must be disclosed at check-in, adds a USD 150 sanitation fee if applicable and does not accept cats. Super 8 Richfield near Cleveland charges USD 15 per pet per night, with no weight limit and no sanitation fee. Super 8 Fort Sumner in New Mexico charges USD 10 per pet per night for up to two dogs or cats. Three of the eight Super 8 hotels we checked took no pets at all.

Days Inn pet policy

Days Inn hotels showed the same spread. Days Inn Ocala in Florida allows two pets of 25 pounds or less for USD 15 per pet per night. Days Inn King in North Carolina allows two pets up to 40 pounds for USD 20 per pet per night. Days Inn Los Lunas in New Mexico allows up to three pets for USD 20 per pet per night, with a USD 150 sanitation fee if required. Days Inn near LAX and in Neenah, Wisconsin did not accept pets.

Travelodge, Microtel and Baymont

Travelodge Milford in Utah allows two pets up to 25 pounds for USD 40 per night, with a USD 250 sanitation fee if required, while Travelodge Forest Park near Atlanta takes no pets. Microtel London in Kentucky charges USD 12 per pet per night with a USD 100 sanitation fee if required, and Microtel Palm Coast in Florida charges USD 25 per pet, or USD 35 for pets over 25 pounds. Three of the five Microtels we checked took no pets.

Baymont was the most pet-friendly brand in our sample: all five Baymont hotels accepted pets. Baymont Mobile in Alabama takes dogs and cats, two pets up to 50 pounds, for USD 25 per pet per night. Baymont Bellevue near Omaha takes dogs only, up to two dogs of 80 pounds, for USD 15 per dog per night. Baymont Adairsville in Georgia charges USD 20 for the first night and USD 15 for each additional night per pet.

Ramada, Wingate and Howard Johnson

Ramada Kingman in Arizona allows two pets for USD 20 per pet per night, while Ramada Sarasota Waterfront takes no pets. Wingate Uniontown in Pennsylvania allows two dogs up to 50 pounds for USD 30 per pet per night, with a USD 250 sanitation fee if required, but the other two Wingate hotels we checked took no pets. Howard Johnson Yuma takes dogs only for USD 10 per pet per night.

La Quinta is the exception

La Quinta is the one Wyndham brand with a published chain-wide pet policy. Most La Quinta hotels accept up to two cats or dogs, with an optional fee of USD 25 per night capped at USD 75 per stay, and the brand lists the specific hotels that do not allow pets. For long stays that cap makes La Quinta far cheaper than a per-night Wyndham hotel. Our La Quinta pet policy guide covers it in detail.

What the pet sanitation fee is

Many Wyndham hotels list a pet sanitation fee alongside the nightly fee, usually USD 100, USD 150 or USD 250. The wording is "if required" or "if applicable", which means it is charged when the room needs cleaning beyond normal, for example because of accidents, heavy shedding on furniture or odor. It is on top of the nightly fee, not instead of it. Keeping your pet off the bed, using a crate and cleaning up quickly makes it less likely you will see it on your bill.

How to check a Wyndham hotel's pet policy

  1. Open the hotel's page on wyndhamhotels.com and find Hotel Policies.
  2. Read the Pet and Service Animal Policy box for whether pets are allowed, the number of pets, the weight limit and the fee.
  3. Check whether the fee is per pet or per room, and whether there is a sanitation fee.
  4. Call the hotel to confirm a pet room is available, since many hotels limit pets to certain rooms.
  5. Tell the front desk about your pet at check-in.

Our guide on how to find pet-friendly hotels covers the same checks across other chains.

Service animals at Wyndham hotels

Every Wyndham hotel page we checked said ADA-defined service animals are welcome, and several said free of charge, including the no-pets hotels. That matches the ADA service animal rules: a hotel must admit a trained service dog, cannot charge a pet fee for it, and may only ask whether the dog is required because of a disability and what task it has been trained to perform. Emotional support animals do not have that protection in hotels, so a no-pets Wyndham hotel can refuse one. Our guide to service dog hotel rights explains more.

Wyndham on a road trip with a dog

Wyndham's budget brands are everywhere along US interstates, which makes them handy for one-night stops on a long drive. A per-night fee of USD 10 to USD 25 is easy to absorb for a single night. The catch is that so many locations take no pets, so plan your stops in advance rather than looking for a room at 10 p.m. Our road trip with a dog guide covers planning stops, and hotels with no pet fee lists chains that charge nothing.

Comparing the cost of a stay

Per-night fees add up. One dog for three nights at USD 15 a night is USD 45. Two dogs for a week at USD 25 per pet per night is USD 350, before any sanitation fee. A La Quinta with a USD 75 cap, or a chain with a one-time fee per stay, can cost far less for a week. For short stops Wyndham's budget brands are fine; for long stays, compare before you book.

Tips for a smooth Wyndham stay with a pet

  • Call ahead. Many Wyndham hotels ask you to contact them to complete a pet reservation.
  • Bring a crate and ask whether your pet can be left in the room alone.
  • Cover the bed with your own blanket and pack a lint roller to avoid a sanitation fee.
  • Keep your dog leashed in public areas and out of the breakfast room.
  • Note the weight limit and be honest about your pet's weight.

Questions to ask the hotel

  • Is the fee per pet or per room, and is it charged every night?
  • Is there a sanitation or cleaning fee, and what triggers it?
  • What is the weight limit, and do you accept cats?
  • Are pet rooms limited, and can you hold one for my dates?
  • Can my dog stay in the room alone if crated?
  • Where is the nearest place to walk a dog?

Because the booking engine often has no way to flag a pet, a quick call is the only way to be sure the room you book is a pet room.

A sample trip: three nights with a 45 pound dog

Say you are driving across three states with one 45 pound dog and plan three single-night stops at Wyndham budget hotels. At Super 8 Richfield the dog fits, at USD 15 for the night. At Days Inn King the dog is over the 40 pound limit, so you would need to call and ask, or look elsewhere. At Baymont Mobile the dog fits the 50 pound limit for USD 25. At Super 8 Waverly the dog is over the 40 pound limit as well. The same dog can be welcome at one exit and turned away at the next, so check the weight line for each hotel on your route before you set off, and keep a backup hotel in mind for each night.

Common mistakes with Wyndham pet stays

  • Assuming a Days Inn or Super 8 takes pets because another one did.
  • Missing that the fee is per pet, so two dogs cost double.
  • Forgetting the sanitation fee when budgeting.
  • Bringing a cat to a dogs only hotel.
  • Arriving without telling the hotel and finding no pet rooms left.

Before you book

For Wyndham, the hotel page is everything. Read the pet box, call to confirm, and remember that nearly half of the hotels we checked did not take pets at all.
