Hard Rock Hotel Pet Policy

Hard Rock doesn't have one pet policy. Most of its hotels use a program called Unleashed, but each hotel sets its own fee and weight limit. In the US, the fees we could confirm run from $150 to $250 for a stay, and the weight limits are 40 or 50 pounds. Two hotels can use the same program name and still charge very differently for the same two dogs.

The difference is in how the fee is counted. Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood charges $150 per pet, per stay, so two dogs cost $300. Seminole Hard Rock Tampa charges $250 for the program, which covers up to two pets, so two dogs cost $250 but one dog costs $100 more than it would in Hollywood.

This guide uses each hotel's own page, read in November 2026. Hard Rock's sites are split across several addresses, and we could not find a pet page for every location. We list the ones we couldn't confirm so you know which to call. Fees also seem to change often, since older copies of these same pages show lower numbers.

What Unleashed includes

Unleashed is the name for Hard Rock's pet program. The hotels describe much the same package. Tampa and Bristol, for example, offer a welcome bag at check-in, a memory foam bed and two stainless bowls, with designated areas for dogs. You sign an agreement when you arrive, and housekeeping follows its own rules for rooms with dogs.

Both hotels add a line worth taking seriously: confirm your participation in the program when you book. These are designated rooms, not any room in the building. Booking a standard room through a travel site and turning up with a dog may leave you with no room that qualifies.

Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood

Hollywood has the most detailed policy we found. The pet policy page says dogs of 40 pounds or less are welcome and no more than two pets can share a room. The $150 fee is non-refundable and goes toward deep cleaning the room. You are also billed for any damage or extra cleaning, and you need a valid credit card at check-in to cover that.

Dogs must be leashed or held in your arms in all common areas. You hang a "Pet in Room" sign on your door when the dog is inside. Housekeeping will only come in if the dog isn't in the room, or if you're there and the dog is leashed or caged. The hotel can also require you to remove a dog immediately for biting, excessive barking, signs of disease, or going to the toilet in public areas.

Two clauses in the agreement catch people's attention. You state that you carry personal liability insurance sufficient to cover damage or injury caused by your pet, and you agree to release the hotel from claims related to your pet's stay. Read the agreement before you sign it, particularly if your dog has a bite history.

You may see a $100 fee and a 50 pound limit in older write-ups of this hotel. The current hotel pages say $150 and 40 pounds.

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa

Tampa also has a 40 pound limit, and dogs must be house trained. They have to stay leashed and supervised in public areas, and they can't enter restaurants, bars, lounges or pool areas unless the law requires it for a service animal. The hotel warns that if a pet has an accident in a guest room, the casino or any indoor area, the team may require that the pet leave the property. Pets showing aggressive behavior aren't permitted.

The $250 program price works best for two dogs. For one small dog, Tampa is the more expensive of the two Florida casino hotels.

Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando

This is the Hard Rock most families ask about, and it is run by Loews rather than by the same group as the casino hotels. We cover the wider Universal picture in our Universal Studios pet policy guide and the chain in our Loews Hotels pet policy guide.

The numbers conflict. Loews lists $150 per stay for its Universal hotels. A pet agreement form still hosted on Universal's site says a one-time $100 fee. We would plan on $150 and treat the form as older. That form does set out useful rules: a maximum of two pets per room, current vaccinations with records on request, and pets supervised, leashed or restrained in public spaces. It also says the concierge can give you pet sitting options, though the hotel isn't responsible for those services.

Universal's theme parks don't offer kennels, so you need a plan for your dog during park days. That's the main practical issue with this hotel.

Other US hotels

Hard Rock Daytona Beach is the only US hotel we read that says it takes cats as well as dogs. It allows up to two pets of 50 pounds or under each, at $150 per pet, per stay.

Hard Rock Hotel New York says pets are welcome and the fee is $175 per stay. The page we read didn't give a weight limit in that answer, so ask.

Bristol, Virginia, charges $250 for up to two dogs of up to 50 pounds, the same price as Tampa but with the higher limit. Its page refers only to dogs.

Locations we could not confirm

People also search for Hard Rock's pet rules in Atlantic City, Biloxi, Sacramento, Tulsa and Lake Tahoe. We could not find an official pet page for those hotels. A third-party listing from BringFido shows Lake Tahoe at $65 per pet, per night, with two dogs up to 60 pounds and pet rooms on certain floors, but we haven't seen the hotel's own wording. For any of these, call and ask rather than relying on a figure from another Hard Rock. The fee in Tampa says nothing about the fee in Tulsa.

Mexico and Caribbean resorts

The all-inclusive resorts use a more consistent rule. Cancun and Riviera Maya both take dogs and cats, up to two per room, each up to 50 pounds, at $150 per pet, per stay. There's one catch on long trips: for stays of more than 7 nights, $150 is charged for each week, per pet. A two-week stay with two dogs would cost $600.

Search listings of the Vallarta and Punta Cana pages show similar fees. Los Cabos also runs an Unleashed page, but read the fee on the page for your own resort before you commit.

Airport transfers are where people get caught out. Cancun and Riviera Maya only allow pets on private transportation. If your package includes a shared transfer, you have to contact the tour office 48 hours ahead to arrange a private one at a special rate. The pet must be at least 8 weeks old and must stay in its carrier the whole way, or you face a $50 cleaning fine. There can be no more than two pets per vehicle. Vallarta lists a separate pet transport fee of $40 per pet.

Getting there is the bigger job. Since August 3, 2026, dogs entering Mexico from the US have needed a screwworm inspection certificate from a USDA-accredited vet within 5 days of arrival. Your dog also has to clear the US rules coming home. We cover both in our guides to pet transport to Mexico and crossing the border with a dog. Start that paperwork well before the trip, since the hotel fee is the easy part.

Europe and Asia

Outside North America, the rules move further from the US pattern. Marbella sets a 10 kg limit per dog and charges EUR 20 a day in low season and EUR 50 in high season, plus a one-off cleaning fee of EUR 50 to 75. Search listings of the Madrid page show EUR 30 per pet, per stay. Pattaya's pet page charges per pet, per night in baht. The point is the same as in the US: read the page for that hotel, and don't assume a fee carries across.

Service animals

The fees and weight limits above apply to pets. Under the ADA, US hotels can't charge a pet fee for a trained service dog or hold it to a weight limit, although you can be charged for damage it causes. Emotional support animals don't get that protection in hotels, so expect to be treated as a pet guest. Our guide to service dog hotel rights has the detail.

What the pet agreement usually asks of you

Almost every Hard Rock pet page mentions an agreement you sign at check-in, so it helps to know what's likely to be in it. The ones we read share a few themes. Your pet stays leashed or restrained in public spaces. You clean up after it, inside and out. You pay for any damage or unusual cleaning, and the card you present at check-in is what the hotel will charge. Vaccinations must be current, and the Universal form says the hotel can ask for records from a licensed vet.

The behavior clauses have real consequences. Hollywood can require immediate removal for biting or excessive barking, and Tampa says an accident indoors can be enough. Removal wouldn't necessarily refund your stay, and on a holiday weekend you may have nowhere else to go. If your dog barks when left alone or isn't reliably house trained in new places, take that seriously when you pick a hotel. It also pays to know where the nearest boarding kennel is before you arrive.

Leaving your dog in the room

This is the question that shapes most Hard Rock trips, since many guests come for the casino, the pool or the theme parks, and dogs can't join them there. Not every page answers it. Hollywood only says housekeeping won't enter while your pet is present unless you're there and the dog is leashed or caged, which suggests pets can be in the room, but it doesn't spell out a rule on leaving them alone. Ask directly, and ask whether a crate is required.

If the answer is no, your choices are a local sitter or a daycare for the hours you'll be out. Book one before you travel, particularly in Orlando or South Florida during school holidays. Our dog sitter checklist covers what to leave with whoever looks after your dog.

How to compare the cost

Because Hard Rock prices vary by pet, by stay, by week and by night, work out the total for your own trip before you pick a hotel. Multiply by the number of pets if the fee is per pet. Check whether your stay crosses a weekly limit. Then add the possibility of a damage charge on top, because every agreement we read makes you responsible for that. For a one-dog weekend, Hollywood at $150 beats Tampa at $250. For two dogs, Tampa comes out ahead by $50.

If the total looks high, our list of hotels with no pet fee shows where you might pay nothing, and our guide to finding pet-friendly hotels covers what to ask before you book.

Before you book

Ask the hotel for four things: the current fee and how it's counted, the weight limit, whether cats are accepted, and which room types qualify. Ask too whether your dog can stay alone in the room, because the answer shapes your whole trip at a casino hotel or a resort where dogs can't go to the pool or restaurants. Then get the answer in an email, and keep it with your booking. Bring your vaccination records as well, since the agreements let the hotel ask for them.
